Rochester International Airport Announces Partnership with Rochester Community and Technical College

RCTC) to provide hands-on learning experiences and opportunities. The partnership began to form in 2014 when airport leadership approached RCTC about potential opportunities for students to use the airport facilities for hands-on learning experiences. The RCTC Horticulture program embraced the opportunity. Almost twenty (20) students and instructors set to work on a landscaping project for a space located next to the Main Terminal entrance drive. Students worked in groups to review the land and design a landscape plan for the location. Horticulture classes have been on-site at the airport throughout April to begin the installation phase on the landscape space. The Rochester International Airport will continue to work with RCTC on opportunities for other programs to utilize the community space at the airport for learning experiences. “We are thrilled to get this partnership off the ground. The Rochester International Airport is truly a regional asset, and we find it important to partner with Rochester Community and Technical College to support education” said RST Executive Director, John Reed. In celebration of the partnership announcement, the Rochester International Airport and Rochester Community Technical College will invite the media and community partners to attend a reception on the Airport grounds (west of Main Terminal) on Monday April 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
