One of the most frequent travel destinations for southeastern Minnesotans is Orlando—a vibrant, versatile and (yes!) magical place. Known for its theme parks, warm weather and proximity to beaches, Orlando also serves as a hub for professional conferences and kids’ events like cheerleading and dance competitions.
With endless opportunities for fun and entertainment, Orlando serves as a favorite getaway for Rochester, MN dad James Fruth, who flies there around twice a year. Fruth, who is usually accompanied by his 8-year-old daughter, says: “Around Orlando, there’s a lot to do—Disney and several other theme parks, wildlife, and some of the best college football found anywhere at UCF (University of Central Florida). It’s a perfect family destination with something for all ages. It’s super diverse, not far from the beach, and has great pools everywhere you go.”
Fruth and his daughter are Disney devotees, but they also enjoy Universal Orlando Resort. “Universal has really stepped up its game recently and Disney is also building a bunch of new attractions,” Fruth says, noting they are engaged in an “arms race” which ultimately benefits both parks’ visitors.
