If international travel is part of your life – or even just part of your wish list – there’s good news at RST. Due to popular request, we are now offering Global Entry interviews right here at RST, making it easier than ever to enroll in this time-saving trusted traveler program.

What Is Global Entry?

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler Program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. The application fee is $120, and membership lasts for five years. All applicants must undergo a background check.

Why Travelers Love It

Global Entry members enjoy:

  • Faster re-entry into the U.S. through Global Entry kiosks
  • Quicker processing – often just minutes instead of long waits
  • No paper customs forms
  • TSA PreCheck eligibility, so you can use expedited security lanes on domestic flights, too
  • Five years of membership

For many RST travelers, Global Entry has been on the “someday” list for a while. Now, you can complete the final step – your interview – without leaving the airport you already use.

How to Apply

  1. Submit and pay for your individual application here. (Minors are free with a parent already in or applying for Global Entry.)
  2. Wait for CBP to complete your background check. (Most applications are reviewed within 2 weeks, while some can take up to 12 months or longer, depending on criminal history.)
  3. Schedule and attend an in-person interview at RST. (In-person interviews are required for first-time enrollment.) Appointments are available weekly on Thursdays.
  4. Receive your benefits!

Interview Availability & Where to Go at RST

On-site Global Entry interviews started recently at RST and are expected to continue on a regular cadence—every Thursday—making this a long-term, convenient option for southeastern Minnesota travelers.

GE interviews take place inside the RST terminal, in the Customs office. Here’s how to find it:

  • Enter the terminal entrance near baggage claim
  • Go to the far right side, beyond the elevator bank
  • Follow signage for U.S. Customs
  • Look for a small table setup in the far-right corner—it’s there to help confirm you’re in the right spot

What Happens After You’re Approved?

Once approved, you can start using Global Entry immediately, even before your physical card arrives.

  • You’ll receive confirmation via your Trusted Traveler Programs account
  • Global Entry cards typically arrive by mail within 2–4 weeks
  • The card is used for land border crossings only (NEXUS and SENTRI lanes); air travel uses kiosks and your passport
  • Renewing a passport? You can update your information online – no return visit required

Global Entry is a game-changer for frequent international travelers, and now it’s more accessible than ever thanks to on-site interviews at RST.  Apply today!
