Getting Around Downtown Rochester During Construction

Once you land at RST, we want to make it easy for you to get around during several construction projects. We’ve compiled resources to help navigate changes on your own or find a local ride share, taxi, or shuttle driver to take the wheel. We recommend checking these resources before your trip to ensure a smooth arrival and travel experience.

Check for Changes

To make Rochester an even better place to visit and receive medical care, several construction projects are underway that may impact how you get around our downtown area. These resources can help you plan ahead for detours and road closures.

  • A Downtown Rochester construction page is designed to provide patients, visitors, residents and downtown employees with up-to-date information on construction impacts. It includes pedestrian and vehicle maps to help navigate the evolving downtown landscape. Maps are available in downloadable, printable and online versions.
  • Mayo Clinic’s construction updates page provides an interactive, personalized parking and drop-off navigator tool. It also features FAQs, construction updates, driving directions and more.

Take a Ride

If navigating construction cones sounds overwhelming, let a local driver lead the way.

  • Our Parking & Transportation page provides comprehensive information for incoming passengers on shuttles, taxis and rideshares. Their driver’s expertise and familiarity with the ever-changing detours will guide you on your way without worry.
  • A City of Rochester microtransit pilot program is available through July 18, 2025. This on-demand transit service serving southern Rochester (including RST) offers rides for only $2 to get from the airport to certain downtown hotels.

Thank you for your patience as the city of Rochester enhances its infrastructure. Creating a modern, accessible and vibrant city center will enhance the overall experience of our visitors, residents and workforce.
